The Sensex and Nifty closed higher today after inflation rate plummeted to an 18-month low, raising optimism that the Reserve Bank of India could ease monetary policy next month, as the economy faces a manufacturing slowdown and weak growth in the farm sector.
While the Sensex closed 465 points higher at 36,318, Nifty ended 149 points  at 10,886 .Shares of Yes bank were up 5 % at Rs 205  on Tuesday, extending its Monday’s 6 per cent rally, amid reports that Deutsche Bank’s India CEO Ravneet Singh Gill is in race for the top job at India’s fourth largest private sector bank. Shares of infosys it a three-month high of Rs 727, up 4% on Tuesday, extending its Monday’s 2.5 per cent gain on the BSE, after the software services firm increased FY19 constant currency  revenue growth guidance to 8.5-9 %from 6-8 % earlier. The company has maintained its EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) margin guidance range at 22-24 per cent. Shares of jet airways rose as much as 6 % to Rs 312 in early trade Tuesday after various media reports suggested that etihad airways  plans to increase its stake in the cash strapped airline. etihad airways currently owns a 24 per cent stake  in  the debt-laden airline.
YES Bank (3.86%), Infosys (3.66%) and Reliance Industries (3.02%) were the top Sensex gainers.
Top Sensex losers were Maruti (0.72%), ICICI Bank (0.23%) and PowerGrid (0.03%).
